Cathbodua is a sidhe and a member of King's Cranes. She swore her oath to Prince Essus, but never to Prince Cel.

Once she was revered as a goddess of battle - she was called the scald crow, she was the dissatisfaction that drove men to quarrel and she fed on it. Even now she enjoys a good fight and uses crows, ravens and some other birds as her spies. She was once able to shape shift to a raven or a crow, but has not regained the power, though she can speak to crows and ravens.

There was a rumor that Cel feared her to the point that she was not as abused as his other guards, even though she publicly denied him sex.

Powers[]

Glamour - Her glamour is good enough that she can hide her identity from others

She can command ravens and see through their eyes.

Can move quickly enough to follow a spell back to its caster.

Shapeshifting - She could transform herself into a raven or a crow but lost this ability.

Possessions[]

A cloak of raven feathers which can shift forms to what clothing is best suited for the environment.

A Stroke of Midnight[]

Cathbodua was one of the three guards that joined Meredith and helped to catch the killer of Beatrice. She along with Doyle and Usna followed the curse which was cast on Biddy, her fellow guard of King's Cranes. The curse was meant to be carried to humans and kill them. However, Doyle broke it and followed it with Usna and Cathbodua to Gwennin. Then they brought him to the Queen Andais

Divine Misdemeanors[]

Cathbodua followed Meredith to Los Angeles. She and Usna became lovers and they are also partners on guard duty. When Meredith made sure her men understood that they could seek other lovers, Usna and Cathbodua make their relationship public.

Cathbodua was also one of the guards who spoke to Sholto and Meredith about the abuse Prince Cel put his guards through, including being raped by a royal nightflyer. Sholto revealed that after he found out, he killed the night-flyer. Cathbodua acknowledged that they owe him for it.

A Shiver of Light[]

Cathbodua swore an oath of service to Meredith of her own volition, because she saw Meredith as both kind and strong ruler. And above all a ruler fit for modern days. She claimed that with Meredith she finally could see future of the fae.

Cathbodua revealed to Queen Andais that Prince Cel never took an oath from his guards, therefore they were free to follow Meredith and offer their allegiance to her. When Usna joined her in her argument, the Queen demanded he be sent to her for punishment to make and example of him. Cathbodua then revealed that she was with child and Usna was the child's father, making it impossible for Andais to recall and punish him.
